Trash Tycoon

CCO/Partner

Trash Tycoon is an award-winning social game developed by Guerillapps that combines engaging multiplayer gameplay with real-world environmental action. Players transform a city overrun by trash into a thriving community by collecting litter, recycling waste, and upcycling materials into valuable products such as furniture, toys, jewelry, and decorations.

The game has been featured by:

  • The New York Times,

  • TechCrunch,

  • VentureBeat,

  • Games for Change,

  • and SXSW, where it placed 9th out of more than 600 startup companies in the SXSW Startup Competition.

What makes Trash Tycoon truly unique is its connection to the real world. Through partnerships with organizations including TerraCycle, Carbonfund.org, TreeHugger, and Kraft Foods, Walmart, Starbucks, etc…, players can earn rewards for participating in recycling programs both inside and outside the game.

As players collect and recycle waste, they earn points that can be redeemed for exclusive in-game items, badges, and even real-life upcycled products such as pencil cases, backpacks, slippers, and other sustainable goods. Players can choose to keep these items or donate their rewards to a nonprofit organization of their choice, creating a direct connection between gameplay and social impact.

Trash Tycoon also features a collaborative multiplayer experience where friends, teachers/schools, and fundraising groups can work together in real time to clean up the virtual city, share resources, and accelerate progress.

Trash Tycoon demonstrates how gaming can inspire environmental responsibility by turning recycling, upcycling, and community action into a fun, rewarding, and meaningful experience.

Al Gore believes in Trash Tycoon's values.

In-game and real life upcycling experience for gamers, even real Items players can receive from the game.
